Chocolate not chocolate cake – O Coral

Our favourite Formosa-front café, O Coral. I lived for over 4 decades without ever knowingly having carob and let me tell you – it’s a revelation. A substitute for cocoa powder that doesn’t have caffeine and has a nuttier taste – the cake world may never be the same again. It’s another plant that grows everywhere here so maybe this is next on the foraging list and we can produce our own Bolo De Alfarroba.

Anyhow – I digress – as well as the above, they have really friendly staff, the best burgers that we’ve tried, good coffee and better than good vinho rose.

A big shout out to the young man that has been helping us try to learn a few words of Portuguese, for us then to find out he’s Venezuelan!! – you’ll see a pattern emerging here…
