The Arts in the Algarve
We knew that moving from London would limit the opportunities for the Arts – Manchester had been a bit of a stretch so what would the Algarve bring? Well to be fair, within a short period of being here the Russian Classical Ballet are performing Swan Lake (O Lago Dos Cisnes) at Teatro Das Figuras in Faro. https://www.teatrodasfiguras.pt/en/Default.aspx. So off we trot (brownie points in bag for also booking us into the first hotel we stayed in on our exploratory trips to this part of the world)
Being a connoisseur of ballet my synopsis is not to be ignored – lots of women dancing beautifully and athletically to wonderfully rousing music whilst the blokes flounce around doing a whole heap of nothing and the storyline interrupts the dancing / music for about 12 seconds of the 2 hour performance.
It was a good job that the music was rousing as these crazy continentals and their time keeping will never sit comfortably – the performance started after 9pm and I hadn’t even had a nap beforehand.
All in all we loved it – yet another tick for the Algarve.
